I have to say that I love all the miniatures in the starter set. The amount of detail on them is staggering. The Retributors and Khorgorath are my favourites but only by a small margin. 🙂

The Age of Sigmar Painting Guide will be available from the 11th of July and can be ordered here.
The Big Changes
Rank and file formations are gone, replaced with a more skirmish style like Warhammer 40K. You can use both the familiar square bases and round bases for your models, but the round models will look better in the game style and all the new releases will be on the round bases. As such movement trays is also a thing of the past.
Free Rules and Warsrolls for each army which can be downloaded here.
The Warscrolls contain any special rules a unit has along with all its stats and can also be downloaded from any unit page on the GW website, just look for “Rules” tab to the right of the unit description.
There are no points costs for a unit which allows you to play anything you want. To balance things out a bit, certain sudden death victory conditions will arise if your enemy totally overpowers you, giving everyone a chance to win a game. The warhammer world has also been divided into four factions:
- Chaos
- Death
- Destruction
- Order
This allows players to create armies based one of those factions, so the races can be mixed just like in the End Times armies.
Chaos
- Beastmen
- Daemons of Chaos
- Dark Elves
- Ogre Kingdoms
- Orcs & Goblins
- Skaven
- Warriors of Chaos
Death
- Tomb Kings
- Vampire Counts
Destruction
- Beastmen
- Ogre Kingdoms
- Orcs & Goblins
- Warriors of Chaos
Order
- Bretonnia
- Dark Elves
- Dwarfs
- High Elves
- Lizardmen
- The Empire
- Wood Elves
I for one like the huge changes they have made, the old rules, expensive armybooks and the amount of miniatures you needed to play a game was a big barrier for new players to overcome and it seems that Age of Sigmar seems to rectify that. Warhammer is dead! Long live Warhammer!
